Yolandita Monge's Acting Career

Yolandita Monge, known as "Puerto Rico's Diva", is a singer and actress who started in show business in her teen years. The best selling female Puerto Rican singer of all time, and the only Puerto female to get nominated at the Grammy Music Awards, Monge's acting career is as distinguished as her singing career.

Spanish soap operas

Yolandita Monge has acted in more than 10 Spanish soap operas or telenovelas. She has played roles in "Vida," "Poquita Cosa" and "Escándalo." She played the main role and sang the theme song for "Ave de Paso." Monge was also in the original version of "La Viuda de Blanco," which was so popular it was translated into 37 languages in one year alone. She has also held other roles in made for television specials like "Master Class (Clase Maestra)" and met critical acclaim for her role in the musical "La Verdadera Historia de Pedro Navaja."

Movies

Yolandita Monge acted in the 1999 TV movie "Ocho años de Dolor" (Eight Years of Pain) where she played a kidnap victim. In 2006, Monge worked on the movie "Mujeres sin Hombres" (Women without Men) about men enacting revenge upon men.

Although Yolandita Monge's musical career is more prolific, she is certainly no stranger to the stage. Take away her singing career and fame, and most would say she still has a shot in the acting world. Whether she chooses to take more acting roles in the future, no one knows, but hopefully her career continues to burn brightly.
