Yolandita Monge's Discography
Yolandita Monge released her first studio album in 1969 at the tender age of 14. Altogether, Monge released four albums with her first label, Patty, before moving to Mexico. In Mexico, Monge briefly cycled between two other labels before moving even further north to sign with the New York label, Coco. During the first five years of her career, Monge released a total of seven albums, but it was with Coco that she received her first real taste of international success.
Monge's first album with Coco, Floreciendo!, went Gold in 1975. The album's most successful track was easily "Cierra Los Ojos" (Close Your Eyes) which appeared on Latin charts throughout Central and South America.
Laberinto de Amor
By the end of the 1970s, Monge had already proven that she was no one-hit wonder, but she defied all odds by continuing her upward trajectory through the 1980s. In 1980, Monge signed with Sony and released a long string of successful albums. She scored her first Platinum sales award with her 1987 Sony release, Laberinto de Amor.
Monge was red hot by the end of the 1980s, following the huge sales of Laberinto de Amor with Double Platinum sales for her 1988 release, Vivencias. She continued to dominate the Latin charts through the 1990s, once again earning a Double Platinum award for her 1992 album, Cara de Angel, which was also her first album for WEA-Latina.
From 1997 to the present, Monge has moved from WEA-Latina to BMG to Warner Music to Univision Music to Universal Music Latino, with whom she is currently under contract. She has released a total of 34 albums in her long and amazingly successful career, including a 2008 album entitled Mala.
